PoE Power over Ethernet midspan
with 12V DC or 24V DC power input

Cameras, IP telephones, network components like switches, media converters and access points have often to be installed in areas without any power source.

Power over Ethernet can avoid the connection to the electricity network with the safety reqirements for 230 V AC. In this case the devices can be energized either directly via the Ethernet connection according to IEEE 802.3af / 802.3at standard or with a splitter which provides the device with 5V DC, 9V DC, 12V DC or 24V DC power.

However, the environments of island systems, control plants or on vehicles only support 12V DC or 24V DC as standard power source. Midspan and endspan power sourcing devices (PSE) typically need 48V DC power input.

UBF now offers Fast Ethernet injectors that can be supplied by 10V DC to 36V DC. The injectors make 48V DC available according to IEEE 802.3af standard. That makes it possible to use PoE also with 12V battery power such as on vehicles. The operating temperature range from -25° to +75°C enables the operation also in not air-conditioned environments.
